As a PADI Pro:

You will be one of the most sought-after dive professionals on the planet. Whether you work in a local dive center, at a resort or on a liveaboard dive boat, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you. If you are at least 18 years old, in six months and with 100 logged dives, you can become a PADI Instructor. Use this planner to get you there. Start by picking a date you plan to become a PADI Pro.

 
Open Water

What you’ll do: Learn the fundamentals of scuba diving using the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and Video or Multimedia at home, or with a PADI Instructor. Confined Water Dives – Practice skills under the supervision of a PADI Instructor.

Open Water Dives – Time for the real thing.Apply what you’ve learned in an open water environment.

Time for completion: 3 Days - 3 Weeks
Materials you’ll use: PADI Open Water Diver Crew Pack, PADI Open Water Diver Video

 

Advanced Open Water

What you’ll do: Enhance dive skills and explore specialized dive activities with the PADI Adventures in Diving Manual and Video at home, or with a PADI Instructor. Open Water Dives – Five dives (Two required dives: Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation Dive) plus any three PADI Adventure Dives related to specialty courses. Up to three training dives per day.

Time for completion: 2 bis 6 Tage
Materials you’ll use: PADI Adventures in Diving Crew-Pak, PADI Adventures in Diving Video on DVD
 
Rescue Diver

What you’ll do: Complete an Emergency First Response® Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) course or other sanctioned first aid and CPR course. Learn critical rescue skills, perhaps first in confined water with practice in open water. In open water, show your ability to put rescue skills into action through participation in four rescue scenarios.

Time for completion: 1 - 2 Weeks
Materialien: Rescue Diver Crew-Pak, Rescue Diver Video. EFR Candidate Pack
 
Divemaster

What you’ll do: Learn dive leadership skills through classroom sessions and by using the Divemaster Manual and Video. Complete a series of waterskills and stamina exercises in confined and open water environments. Map a dive site, including underwater and surface features. Equipment exchange – demonstrate the ability to solve unanticipated problems underwater through skills such as equipment exchange. Conduct a simulated or actual dive program, under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. Internship or Practical Training Exercises (choose one).
– Internship: hands-on experience supervising and assisting divers in actual PADI programs, under the guidance of a PADI Instructor
– Practical Training Exercises: simulated scenarios in supervising and assisting divers, under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. Must have a minimum of 60 logged dives to be certified as a Divemaster.

Time for completion: 2 Weeks - 2 Month
Materials you’ll use: Divemaster Training Package, Divemaster Video on DVD, The Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving, Diving Knowledge WorkbookDVD
 
Assistant Instructor

What you’ll do: Self-study Knowledge Reviews, Knowledge development sessions, candidate presentations and workshops. Confined water – Skills review and assessment, workshops and candidate presentations. Open water – Workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations.

Time for completion: 4 Days
Materials you’ll use: Instructor Candidate Workbook, Instructor Manual, Slates, Reference books and manuals
 
Open Water Scuba Instructor

What you’ll do: Self-study Knowledge Reviews, Knowledge development sessions, candidate presentations and workshops. Confined water – Skills review and assessment, workshops and candidate presentations. Open water – Workshops, rescue assessment and presentations. Must have a minimum of 100 logged dives to become a PADI Instructor.

Time for completion: 5 Days
Materials you’ll use: Instructor Candidate Workbook, Instructor Manual, Slates, Reference Books und Manuals
 
Instructor Examination

What you’ll do: Exams in Dive Theory and PADI Standards and Procedures. Waterskills and diver rescue Assessment. Presentations in classroom, confined and open water.

Time for completion: 2 Days
